From South Australia to the Stars!
Since the establishment of the Australian Space Agency, the Australian space sector is growing rapidly. But Australia was also an early player in the Space Race, with the Woomera Rocket Range in South Australia as the hub of our space activities. This talk will focus on Australia's first “space age” from the 50s to the 70s, especially the fascinating story of our first satellite, launched in 1967. How did Australia lose its early advantage as a “leading space-minded nation?” Come along and find out about South Australia’s space history and the exciting new Australian Space Age getting underway!
