Diversity as the default: creating an inclusive society
Western societies tend to privilege a single perspective, sidelining diverse voices, views, and values. This exclusion creates social systems that limit engagement for people from diverse backgrounds such as class, gender, ability, religion, sexuality, indigeneity, and ethnicity.
In this talk, Professor Jioji Ravulo challenges us to rethink health, legal, educational, and welfare systems, urging us to make these structures more inclusive of diverse lived experiences. By intentionally integrating diversity into these systems, we can better understand and value different narratives, ultimately making society fairer and more just for everyone.
