Markus Schlaich is a specialist in kidney disease and high blood pressure (hypertension) and runs the hypertension services at Royal Perth Hospital. He holds the inaugural Dobney Chair in Clinical Research at the University of Western Australia. His work focuses on novel treatment therapies for hypertension and its complications including strokes, heart attacks, and kidney failure. He has authored more than 340 scientific articles and book chapters in peer reviewed journals and serves on the Executive Committee of the High Blood Pressure Research Council and the International Society of Hypertension.
