Burn injury can happen to anyone. Most of the time they are a small painful nuisance, but for some, they are life altering events. Each year many people need significant help to recover from visible and invisible scarring. By harnessing the science and technology of our time, Fiona Wood AM and her team can continue to unlock the mysteries of burn injury and drive ground-breaking therapies.
Bio
Fiona Wood AM has spent more than 30 years as a plastic and reconstructive surgeon and researcher and is currently Director of the Burns Service of Western Australia (BSWA). She is also Professor at The University of Western Australia Burn Injury Research Unit. Named a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2003, Fiona won both Western Australia Citizen of the Year and Australian of the Year in 2005.
