Pharmacists in Aged Care: Unravelling the Medicines Tangle

Medicines are the most common intervention in healthcare being used to prevent serious health events, slow deterioration and manage symptoms. The average person in residential aged care takes an average of 10 medicines per day, which leads to concerns of potential harm from managing many medicines. This talk will explore potential changes to medicines management from the government announcement to have pharmacists onsite in residential aged care.

Bio

Dr Amy Page is a consultant pharmacist and biostatistician in the WA Centre for Health & Ageing, at The University of Western Australia. Her research primarily relates to medicines safety and the quality use of medicines for older people, particularly those with dementia or chronic diseases or using polypharmacy
