Bio

Dr Paul Steffens is Professor and Director Postgraduate Programs at the Entrepreneurship, Commercialisation and Innovation Centre (ECIC), The University of Adelaide, Australia. His current research is concerned with the creation, development and growth of new ventures, and diffusion of innovations. He has been a chief investigator for several major research programs totalling over $2 million, including the Comprehensive Australian Study of Entrepreneurial Emergence (CAUSEE) and currently leads the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) in Australia – the world’s largest entrepreneurship research project. Paul has published in leading entrepreneurship, management and marketing journals including Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Journal of Product Innovation Management and R&D Management and serves on the editorial board for the Journal of Business Venturing, the leading international entrepreneurship journal. Paul has also consulted for a range of private and public sector organisations including Department of Industry, Innovation & Science, Monsanto, Waitrose (UK), ENERGEX and the Institute of Public Administration Australia. He has been involved as an investor, advisor and mentor for many startups and has co-founded several companies including a not-for-profit Advancing Entrepreneurship Australia.
