Bio
Leila is an active member of the South Australian business community, having focused her skills and experience in entrepreneurship and media to help businesses succeed. She won the Women In Innovation Award in 2014 for her IT innovation Newsmaker, a highly successful press release distribution service that has 16,000 customers worldwide. She won a “Top 10 Australian Startups” position in Boston’s Bridge to Mass Challenge program in 2017, and in 2019 she’s launching Pitch Society in North America, combining the power of Twitter and auto-publishing to create a cross-media platform for investor, public and media relations. Leila’s early career as a journalist took her to Toronto, London and Sydney, where she worked in senior editorial roles on leading publications such as Australian Women’s Weekly, Reader’s Digest, The Canadian and The Australian. She was a foundation investor in SouthStart Accelerate, and has coached hundreds of entrepreneurs in the art of pitching through the New Venture Institute of Flinders University, Queensland’s iLab, and many more.
