Listen hear: Sound, silence and the definition of music
What goes on in our heads when we listen to music for pleasure? Is music defined by its maker or its listener? In this talk, we’ll rethink the complex experience of music and open our minds to new possibilities. Following on from the radical ideas of the great American composer John Cage, we’ll also explore how we might overcome prejudices in the way we understand the world around us, be better attuned to beauty in our everyday lives and rediscover the discipline of listening.
